Sealants are a comfortable low cost way to help prevent your child’s back teeth from decay. There is no freezing or drilling necessary for this procedure. A thin clear or tooth coloured plastic coating (sealant) is bonded to the chewing surface of molars and premolars where you will find deep grooves and pits. The sealant forms a hard shield that keeps food and bacteria from getting into the tiny grooves in the teeth that would cause decay. A visit with your dental hygienist will determine your child’s needs.
